Survival School not ISR

Where Convenience Meets Confidence

My Approach: Building Real Water Safety Skills for Life

At Swim with Britt, I understand that swimming is more than just a fun activity — it’s a crucial life skill that can save lives. The program is designed to help your child develop water safety skills in a way that fits seamlessly into your busy lifestyle. I offer a flexible and supportive program that encourages confidence and independence in the water, helping your child learn at their own pace.

While I respect other swimming programs like ISR (Infant Swimming Resource), RedCross, and other programs. I believe my approach offers more convenience and long-term results. I offer a comprehensive, gradual approach to water safety, focusing on stroke techniques and a realistic sequence of learning over time. Below, a comparison of the key differences between Swim with Britt and ISR, so you can make an informed decision about what works best for your family.

What Swim with Britt and ISR Have in Common:

• No lifejackets: We believe in teaching water safety without relying on lifejackets, giving your child the ability to float and breathe naturally.

• Floating to breathe: Both programs emphasize the importance of floating and breathing, ensuring your child can safely remain afloat in case of an emergency.

• Regular attendance: Consistent attendance is essential for progress in both programs. We know that repetition builds muscle memory and confidence.

• Persistence: Not every child loves swimming at first, and that’s okay! Whether with us or ISR, persistence is key to developing water safety skills.

• Child safety: Both programs prioritize child safety and teach techniques that can save lives.

• Summer refreshers: Both programs offer refresher sessions, typically 1-2 per summer, to maintain and reinforce skills. Your child doesn’t have to continue the program long-term.

Key Differences Between Swim with Britt and ISR:

1. Flexibility in Scheduling

With Swim with Britt, you don’t have to commit to daily 10-minute sessions for 5-6 weeks. Our program is designed to be flexible, working with your family’s schedule and allowing for longer-term development at a pace that suits your child. No need to worry about rigid attendance schedules that might interfere with your summer plans.

2. No Large Deposits

Unlike ISR, which often requires a large deposit upfront with a la carte classes, Swim with Britt offers a more accessible pricing structure. We believe in making water safety affordable and easy for families, without the financial burden of upfront commitments or piecing together classes.

3. No Forced Clothing or Flips

I don’t toss children into the water with their clothes on or require flips as part of the process. The approach is grounded in reality — we focus on building skills that make sense in everyday life, without unnecessary stress or confusion for your child.

4. Gradual, Realistic Sequence*

• Float and breath basics

• Resting to float — learning how to relax and float safely in the water

• Combine float and swim — adding strokes to develop full swimming capabilities

Summers beyond: fun, refreshers, checking and Private lessons for other programs (as I can only visit in the summers) this gives students the extra boost and some fun in the sun with Britt!

This sequence builds progressively, ensuring that your child’s water skills grow stronger each year without overwhelming them.

*Your child is completely capable of achieving this progress in one summer though others may need time and patience, the goal is to work through each milestone in a way that your child retains their knowledge for fun and especially emergencies.

Why Choose Swim with Britt?

Convenience & Flexibility

I understand that every family has unique needs and schedules. Swim with Britt adapts to your life, working within your availability and budget. Whether you’re dealing with a hectic work schedule or limited pool access, we create a plan that works for you.

Real-World Water Safety

I focus on real-world water safety. Children need to learn how to navigate water safely, even when they’re outside the pool and away from their parents. In an emergency, your child should know how to help themselves — without relying on you to be right next to them at all times. The program teaches foundational skills for self-reliance in the water.

Stroke Techniques for Long-Term Progress

While some programs might focus only on survival swimming, Swim with Britt helps your child work toward stroke techniques that will serve them for years to come. Over time, your child will develop a full set of swimming skills, from floating to breathing to mastering strokes. This holistic approach sets them up for success, not just in emergencies, but for a lifetime of swimming enjoyment.

Respect for Your Time & Budget

I understand that traditional programs like ISR may not be feasible for every family. That’s I work with you to create a flexible program that fits your needs, whether it’s based on your schedule, budget, or availability of a pool. I am here to make water safety and swimming education accessible to everyone.

A Personal Approach to Your Child’s Safety

While ISR does an incredible job in helping children learn water safety, I believe in a more gradual, less intense approach that respects your child’s developmental pace. I understand that parents aren’t always going to be in the water with their kids, and they need to be able to navigate it on their own.

I am not just teaching your child how to swim — I am empowering them with the skills to be safe, confident, and independent in and around the water.
